EMAG at JIMTOF 2026 in Tokyo
Visit EMAG from October 26-31 at Tokyo Big Sight, South Hall 2, Booth S2025
JIMTOF is one of the world’s leading trade shows for machine tools and manufacturing technology. Every two years, it brings together the international metalworking industry in Tokyo. There, EMAG presents manufacturing solutions for a wide range of workpieces. The focus is on high-performance turning, grinding, and profile grinding machines, as well as flexible automation solutions that combine productivity, precision, and cost-effectiveness in batch production.
Manufacturing solutions for turning, grinding, and gear cutting – experience them live at JIMTOF 2026 in Tokyo!
A special focus is on the production of key transmission components for humanoid robots – an application area that places the highest demands on accuracy and process reliability. At our booth, we’ll use real workpieces to demonstrate how Flexsplines, circular splines, planetary gears, and planetary roller screw drives can be produced in series in a repeatable and cost-effective manner.
Experience our exhibits firsthand and speak with our technology experts about your specific manufacturing requirements.
We look forward to your visit!

Our Highlights:
G 375 H: Finishing grinding of precision internal threads for planetary roller screw drives in a single setup
Planetary roller screw drives convert rotational motion into high-precision linear motion and form the heart of linear actuators in robotics and aerospace. The nut, with its deep internal thread, determines the positioning accuracy and service life of the entire drive – requiring pitch and profile accuracies in the single-digit micrometer range.
The G 375 H profile grinding machine finishes grinding this internal thread completely in a single setup. Profiled CBN or corundum wheels precisely replicate the thread contour thread by thread, while linear motors and directly driven main axes effectively prevent pitch errors between threads. An integrated measuring probe records the achieved quality directly in the machine; over-size corrections are immediately incorporated into the ongoing process.
For you, this means: fewer setup changes, shorter lead times, and thread quality that can be reliably reproduced even in batch production.
VL 3 DUO: Turning Flexsplines and Circular Splines for strain wave gears Entirely on a Single Machine
Harmonic reducer gearboxes transmit high torques within the joint actuators of humanoid robots in extremely confined spaces. Their core components – the thin-walled Flexspline and the Circular Spline – require tight tolerances for concentricity, coaxiality, and form accuracy. The quality of the turning operation plays a decisive role in determining how successfully the subsequent gear cutting and grinding processes will be carried out.
The VL 3 DUO twin-spindle vertical lathe performs complete-machining of both sides of the workpiece (OP 10 and OP 20) on a single machine. Two mirrored work areas, each with a pick-up spindle and a 12-station turret, operate in parallel. The TrackMotion automation system rotates the workpieces between operations and supplies the machine from a storage unit holding up to 400 components.
This allows you to manufacture these complex components with minimal labor over long runs – on a compact footprint and with consistent quality as the foundation for subsequent process steps.
UG 1000: Internal, external, out-of-round, and face-grinding in a single setup with a 1,000 mm grinding length
When multiple grinding operations are performed on different machines, setup changes cost time and compromise precision. The UG 1000 universal grinding machine combines internal, external, out-of-round, and face-grinding in a single compact machine. This reduces lead times and increases achievable precision because the workpiece no longer needs to be moved between operations.
The swiveling B-axis of the grinding head (-15° to +225°) enables bevel grinding and combined internal/external operations in a single setup. Direct-drive motor spindles with 7.5 or 11 kW operate with corundum and CBN grinding wheels; on the test workpiece, the machine achieves a roundness of 0.5 µm.
With a grinding length of 1,000 mm, a center height of 175 mm, and a maximum workpiece weight of 80 kg, the UG 1000 covers a wide range of applications – from tool and fixture manufacturing to gear production and general precision mechanics, from individual parts to medium-volume production runs.
Gear Components for Humanoid Robots: Economical Mass Production of Precision Parts
Humanoid robots require compact, heavy-duty joint actuators whose performance depends directly on the manufacturing quality of the gear components. At JIMTOF, EMAG will use real workpieces to demonstrate how these components can be produced in series in a reproducible and cost-effective manner.
The focus is on circular splines with high-precision internal gear teeth, thin-walled flex splines, wave generators with elliptical functional contours, planetary gears for high-torque gearboxes, and planetary roller lead screws for linear actuators. All components combine tight form and position tolerances, intricate geometries, and high requirements for reproducibility.
At the exhibition booth, you’ll learn which manufacturing technologies – from turning and gear cutting to profile and Universal Grinding – EMAG offers for individual workpieces, and how the process chain can be designed seamlessly all the way through to automation.
